The Official Holiday for Black Hair: Crown Day

It’s National #CrownDay and Been Worthy is nothing but #CrownProud!! 👑

A team of Black women leaders created The CROWN Act movement in partnership with the CROWN Coalition, founded by Dove, National Urban League, Color Of Change, and Western Center on Law & Poverty.

The CROWN Act, which stands for “Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair,” is a law that prohibits race-based hair discrimination, which is the denial of employment and educational opportunities because of hair texture or protective hairstyles including braids, locs, twists or bantu knots.

It’s a declaration that when we ALL wear our CROWNS, it becomes a beautiful show of solidarity behind the movement and a formidable statement that we are no longer asking for permission. We are taking control of our narratives. We are fearless. We are unstoppable. We are CROWN PROUD.

Celebrate National CROWN Day to help end race-based hair discrimination nationwide. 23 states down, 27 to go! Sign the petition today by visiting thecrownact.com.
