It’s Official! Sasha Obama Graduates from the University of Southern California Class of 2023

*cues Grown-ish theme song* “Watch out world, I’m grown now!”

It’s a special occasion for the Obamas! Congratulations to Sasha Obama for graduating from the University of Southern California. The big day took place on Friday, May 12th, where Sasha was captured dressed in her cap and gown, ready to walk across the stage.

The 21-year-old made the class of 2023 as she received her bachelor’s degree in sociology, after transferring in 2022 from the University of Michigan, where she studied psychology.

Of course her parents, Former President, Barack Obama and our forever First Lady, Michelle Obama, were amongst family members who attended. They were pictured strolling hand in hand through the crowd with grins on their faces. Her sister, Malia Obama, was also in attendance. It was a weekend of celebrations as they not only celebrated Sasha’s graduation, but Mother’s Day, too.

Michelle Obama took to Instagram on Mother’s Day expressing how being a mother to Malia and Sasha “has been the greatest gift of my life.”

Sasha and Malia, 24, who graduated from Harvard University, have been living together in LA. Malia graduated in 2021 and has since taken a career in TV after she was hired by Donald Glover. She joined Glover, rapper and producer, as a screenwriter for his Amazon series, “Swarm.”

The two sisters have had quite a childhood after moving into the White House at the ages of 7 (Sasha) and 10 (Malia) as their father served 8 years as the POTUS. Though their lives were public, they’ve managed to be significantly private throughout the years. We’ve watched them form and create their own identities and legacy. Now, they’re all grown up. Someone bring us some tissues!

As we’re unsure of what’s next for Sasha and where her new degree will be taking her, we wish her the absolute best and can’t wait to see what’s in store.
